A three-day training programme for Field Trainers under Census 2027 concluded on Tuesday at the VC Hall of the DC Office Complex in Doda, marking an important step towards strengthening grassroots-level preparedness for the upcoming census exercise.
The training programme was organised as part of the first phase of capacity building aimed at preparing over 500 Field Trainers for the House Listing and Housing Census to ensure systematic, uniform and efficient data collection across the district.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Krishan Lal, who is also serving as the Principal Census Officer. The training was supervised by Additional Deputy Commissioner Anil Kumar Thakur, District Census Officer, and ACR Ashraf Pervez, Nodal Officer Census.
The concluding session was chaired by Ashraf Pervez, who reviewed the progress of the programme and highlighted the crucial role of Field Trainers in ensuring the credibility and accuracy of census data.
District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, serving as Additional District Census Officer, along with the District Coordinator from the Directorate of Census Operations, coordinated the programme smoothly.
During the sessions, Master Trainers Dr. Akhter Hussain and Ramesh Kumar provided detailed training on enumeration procedures, household listing formats, usage of digital tools and adherence to census guidelines to maintain consistency and accuracy in data collection.
The training also covered important aspects such as data confidentiality, effective communication during field work, handling difficult terrain and remote areas, real-time error checking and inclusive data collection covering all sections of society.
Officials emphasized transparency, accountability and timely submission of data, stating that reliable census information is essential for evidence-based policymaking, resource allocation and developmental planning.
The programme is expected to strengthen the district’s grassroots data collection mechanism and contribute significantly towards the successful conduct of Census 2027.
