Leh/Jammu, June 19: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Leh on Friday for a three-day official visit to the Union Territory of Ladakh, where he will participate in the International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrations and review key developmental initiatives.
The Vice President received a warm welcome at Kushok Bakula Rinpochee Airport. He was welcomed by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Kargil Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Ladakh Member of Parliament Mohmad Haneefa, along with senior civil and administrative officials.
Welcoming the Vice President on his first official visit to Ladakh, Lieutenant Governor Saxena described it as an honour to host him ahead of the International Yoga Day celebrations.
In a post on X, Saxena said the Vice President’s presence would inspire people across the region to embrace the values of yoga and promote a healthier, balanced, and harmonious way of life.
According to officials, the Vice President will remain in Ladakh until June 21 and participate in a series of official engagements. On June 20, he will visit Lukung village, where he will interact with local Self-Help Groups and review developmental works being carried out under the Vibrant Villages Programme in the border region. He will also pay homage at the War Memorial.
On June 21, the Vice President will join the International Yoga Day celebrations in Leh, where hundreds of youth, armed forces personnel, government officials, and members of various organisations are expected to participate.
The visit marks C.P. Radhakrishnan’s first official tour of Ladakh since assuming office as the Vice President of India.
