Srinagar, Feb 4: Two terrorists were killed in a joint operation carried out by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF in the Jophar forest area of Basantgarh in J&K’s Udhampur district, successfully concluding Operation KIYA, officials said.

They said contact with the terrorists was established on Tuesday and security forces ensured that the militants were prevented from breaking contact. “Following a calibrated and coordinated response, two terrorists were successfully neutralised. The operation demonstrated seamless inter-agency coordination, tactical precision and a high level of professionalism,” the officials said.

While the operation has concluded, the area remains under close surveillance, they added.

In a post on X, the White Knight Corps said that based on specific intelligence inputs provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, troops of CIF Delta under the White Knight Corps planned and executed a focused joint counter-terror operation in the general area of Jophar Forest, Basantgarh, in coordination with the JKP and CRPF. The cordon was reinforced to ensure effective area domination and prevent the escape of terrorists.

“Contact with terrorists was established yesterday and since then they were prevented from breaking contact. Following a calibrated and coordinated response, two terrorists have been successfully neutralised,” the post said, adding that the operation has concluded and the area remains under surveillance.
