Traders Oppose Electricity Charge Hike in J&K, Seek Relief

Shahr-e-Khaas Traders Federation urges J&K Government to roll back electricity tariff hike, calls it an added burden on traders and common people.

Srinagar: The Shahr-e-Khaas Traders Manufacturers Coordination Committee and Federation has expressed concern over the increase in electricity charges, calling it an additional financial burden on the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

President Imtiyaz Ahmad Malik said traders, manufacturers, small businesses and middle-class families are already facing economic difficulties due to rising costs, unemployment and declining business activity.

Malik urged the J&K Government to reconsider the tariff hike and provide relief to consumers, particularly small traders, manufacturers and low-income families.

He also appealed to trade bodies, civil society and other organisations to collectively raise their voice for affordable electricity and measures to revive trade and economic activity in the region.
