Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha today that three terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack were killed in an operation carried out in the Dachigam area near Srinagar on Monday.

While speaking during the ongoing debate on Operation Sindoor, Shah said the mission — codenamed Operation Mahadev — led to the elimination of the Pahalgam attack mastermind, Suleiman Shah (also known as Asif), along with two others identified as Afghan and Jibran.

He noted that the operation was launched based on credible intelligence inputs, including the detection of a satellite phone signal traced to the terrorists, indicating their presence in the Lidwas-Harwan forested area near Dachigam National Park.

Shah’s remarks came amid growing pressure from the Opposition, which has been demanding answers on how the terrorists managed to infiltrate deep into Kashmir and evade capture for over 100 days since the Pahalgam attack. Congress leaders, including Gaurav Gogoi, questioned possible security lapses and called for accountability.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also addressed the House, saying that Operation Sindoor had dealt a major blow to terrorist infrastructure across the Line of Control. He added that the operation would continue if any further threats emerged.
