Three held as Jammu Police busts drug supply chain in Channi

JAMMU, August 6: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu campaign, Jammu Police achieved another significant success by arresting three accused persons and recovering heroin along with other incriminating material in the Channi area.

According to police, on July 27, 2026, at around 6:40 pm, during routine traffic naka checking, a Mahindra Thar (JK02CH5936) was intercepted for checking. During the search of the vehicle, police recovered two syringes, including one filled with a suspected narcotic substance and one empty syringe.

During the personal search of the driver, Mohd Tabish Saleem, son of Mohd Saleem and a resident of Mendhar, police recovered approximately 6 grams of heroin-like substance. Another 6 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the co-passenger, Mohd Irfan, son of Dulla and a resident of Raika, Bahu Fort.

Following the recovery, FIR No. 218/2026 was registered at Police Station Channi Himmat under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and investigation was taken up.

During the investigation, while developing the backward linkages of the case, police identified and arrested another accused, Aijaz Choudhary alias Ajju, son of Fateh Din and a resident of Channi Rama. His search led to the recovery of two electronic weighing machines, six mobile phones, ₹28,000 in cash, and one syringe, all of which were seized as part of the investigation.

Police said efforts are underway to identify both the forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network and trace other persons involved in the illicit drug trade.

Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace and appealed to the public to share information related to narcotics trafficking with the nearest police station, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
