Poonch, Dec 3 — The International Day for Persons with Disabilities was observed in Poonch with the participation of over 250 specially abled persons. Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma and Additional DC attended the event and assured all possible support from the administration.
DSWO Khalil A. Banday briefed participants on various welfare schemes and reaffirmed full departmental support. Chairman All Specially Abled Persons Association, Mohd Fareed Malik, presented a memorandum to the DC and apprised him of the community’s demands. He and Abdul Rasheed Shahpuri also addressed the gathering.
The programme was kept simple in honour of Operation Sindoor martyrs and due to the passing of Late Ateeqa Jan, Hon’ble DDC Member Mandi.
Stage activities were managed by noted anchor Pardeep Khanna, and blankets were distributed among specially abled persons as a gesture of care.
