Jammu to Host 24th District Sport Climbing Competition on April 26
JAMMU, Apr 15: The Mountaineering Association of Jammu and Kashmir will host the 24th Jammu District Sport Climbing Competition on April 26 at Sprawling Buds ICSE School in Bantalab. Organized by the District Sport Climbing Association, Jammu, and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council, the event is expected to attract around 300 climbers from across the district.
The competition will feature eight categories on the 40-ft-high Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall, ranging from Mini Boys and Girls (born in 2014 or later) to Men and Women (born in 2008 or earlier), with all events conducted in lead climbing. Speed climbing demonstrations by international climbers will take place during the opening ceremony.
Shawetica Khajuria, an international judge, will head the jury, and Sonam Sidharth will serve as the Organizing Secretary. Technical support will be provided by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, North Zone Committee.
Participants must register by April 23, or can opt for on-the-spot registration between 8 am and 8:30 am on the day of the competition. The event may extend into the following day if needed to complete all rounds.
