Jammu, Apr 04: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Saturday reiterated that terrorism has no place in Jammu and Kashmir, but stressed that innocent people must not suffer under any circumstances.

Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly, he said an inquiry into the Ganderbal incident has already been ordered by the Lieutenant Governor, and the government will act based on its findings.

“Jammu and Kashmir has faced terrorism for over three decades. Terrorists have no place here or anywhere in the country. At the same time, no innocent should be harmed. Let the inquiry report come,” he said.

He warned that strict action would be taken if the Ganderbal encounter is found to be fake and emphasized that such incidents must not be repeated.

The Deputy CM also criticised the opposition over its remarks on the National Conference’s promises, asserting that the government is accountable to the people.

“We are not working at the behest of the opposition. The Omar Abdullah-led government is a people’s government. We are here to fulfil our promises, while the opposition should answer for its own commitments,” he added. (Agency)
