POONCH, MAY 07: A joint team of civil and police officers designated as a Task Force today inspected courier establishments across Poonch district to check compliance with government instructions aimed at preventing misuse of courier services for illegal activities.
The Task Force has been constituted by the Home Department for surveillance and monitoring of courier office activities in the district, with the Additional District Magistrate (Additional Deputy Commissioner) serving as its Chairman.
Members of the Task Force include the DySP Headquarters, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Assistant Commissioner Food and representatives from the Department of Posts.
The Task Force, led by the ADM, conducted a detailed inspection of courier services operating in the district to review their functioning and strengthen monitoring mechanisms.
During the inspection, the team closely monitored parcel handling procedures and directed courier operators to maintain proper records and ensure daily entry of all incoming and outgoing consignments.
The Task Force emphasized the importance of transparency and strict vigilance in courier operations.
Officials interacted with courier operators and staff and sought detailed information regarding the operational mechanism of courier services, including the number of parcels received and dispatched on a daily basis.
The Task Force instructed courier operators to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious parcel, medicine, supplement or doubtful consignment to the concerned authorities without delay.
It stressed that proper verification and monitoring of every parcel is essential to prevent misuse of courier services for illegal activities.
During the inspection, the Task Force also physically checked several consignments and reiterated that all courier offices must strictly follow government guidelines and maintain complete records for scrutiny.
The ADM, who is also Chairman of the Task Force, informed that regular monitoring of courier activities will continue to ensure that no suspicious or illegal consignment enters or leaves the district through courier channels.
