Patna, Mar 14: Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain was sworn in as the Governor of Bihar on Saturday.

Sangam Kumar Sahoo, Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, administered the oath of office and secrecy to Hasnain at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan.

Hasnain replaces Arif Mohammed Khan as the Governor of Bihar.

The ceremony was attended by Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar, along with his cabinet colleagues and senior officials.

Hasnain’s last posting in uniform was as Military Secretary of the Indian Army, a key position responsible for senior-level personnel management. Earlier, he commanded the Army’s XV Corps in Jammu and Kashmir.

Even after retirement, Hasnain remained active in national and academic roles. In 2018, he was appointed Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir.

In 2020, he joined the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) as a member. (Agencies)
