Reasi, Mar 11: Senior Superintendent of Police Paramvir Singh on Tuesday instructed field units in Reasi to maintain strict surveillance on terror-related Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and enhance operational readiness during his visit to the remote and security-sensitive Gulabgarh area.

He was accompanied by Additional SP Iftkhar Ahmed, SDPO Parul Bhardwaj, and DySP Azer Ali Shah of Mahore-Chassana.

The police said a public interaction meeting was held in Gulabgarh, attended by local residents, religious scholars, and other respected community members. SSP Singh listened to the grievances and concerns of the locals and assured them of full police support.

He emphasised the importance of strong police-public cooperation, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly share information to help maintain peace and security.

During the visit, SSP Singh also met members of the Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in the presence of Indian Army officials. The meeting focused on strengthening coordination between the police, VDGs, and the Army to ensure effective area control and timely information sharing.

SSP Singh also interacted with deployed police personnel and inspected local infrastructure, reviewing the availability and condition of arms, ammunition, and other essential equipment to ensure operational readiness.

Considering the challenging terrain and security sensitivities of the region, he stressed the need for frequent mock drills, long-range patrols, and Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) to maintain a high level of preparedness.

He directed officers to continue strict surveillance on OGWs, reinforce police-public collaboration, and monitor weather-induced migratory movements that could affect the security situation. (Agency)
