Kishtwar, May 08: The District Level Committee (DLC) today reviewed proposals related to completion and closure of long pending works undertaken in Kishtwar district under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) from 2016–17 to 2025–26.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma, who is also the Chairman of the District Level Committee.
The proposals are to be forwarded to the Administrative Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Jammu and Kashmir, for approval in accordance with the advisory issued by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
Assistant Commissioner Development Manoj Kumar, who is also the Member Convener of the DLC, briefed the committee regarding the provisions of the advisory issued by the Ministry of Rural Development and the mechanism adopted at block level for identification and processing of such works.
The committee held detailed deliberations on the advisory related to closure of incomplete and ongoing MGNREGA works having low expenditure and negligible physical progress.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner examined block-wise proposals submitted by concerned Block Development Officers along with Gram Sabha resolutions, geo-tagged photographs and requisite certifications. The physical and financial status of the works was reviewed comprehensively.
Issues related to non-visibility and non-geo-tagging of certain works due to minimal progress on the ground also came up for discussion during the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner raised certain observations regarding the proposals placed before the committee and directed the Assistant Commissioner Development to address the observations and submit revised proposals and documents strictly in accordance with prescribed guidelines and advisory instructions.
The meeting was attended by DFO Mahesh Thakur, DFO Marwah Vishal Choudhary, CAO Kushal Chandel, CHO Sajid Mustafa, Executive Engineer REW Satbir Singh, District Soil Conservation Officer and all Block Development Officers of the district.
