According to a police spokesperson, the accused have been identified as Adil Hamid, son of Ab Hamid Sheikh, a resident of Allochi Bagh, and Zahoor Ahmad Khan, son of Gh Mohd Khan, a resident of Zakura, Srinagar. Both individuals were booked under the stringent PIT-NDPS Act following formal detention orders issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, based on comprehensive dossiers prepared by Srinagar Police.

The two were subsequently detained and lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu, and District Jail Bhaderwah, respectively.

Police stated that both individuals were deeply involved in narcotics trafficking, particularly targeting the youth in Srinagar. Despite being booked under multiple NDPS Act cases across various police stations, they continued their illegal activities even after being granted bail, further strengthening their drug network across the region.

Authorities have also initiated the process of attaching their properties under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.

As part of its intensified efforts, Srinagar Police have detained 25 notorious drug peddlers under the PIT-NDPS Act since January 2025. The department reiterated its firm commitment to uprooting the drug menace and dismantling narcotics networks in the city.
