Mandi, March 27:
The Social Welfare Department today organised a one day awareness programme under the flagship initiatives Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Government Higher Secondary School, Mandi.

The programme commenced with the National Anthem and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and members of the local community. A series of cultural performances, including skits, singing, and thematic presentations on Nasha Mukt Bharat, were showcased by students. Selected students also delivered impactful speeches, reflecting awareness and commitment towards these vital social issues.
Among the notable participants were members of civil society, Ex PRI representatives of Mandi, along with staff and students, whose active involvement added significance to the programme.

District Social Welfare Officer, Khalil A Banday, welcomed the distinguished guests and spoke on the occasion, highlighting the importance of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and the urgent need for collective brainstorming to address challenges related to gender equality and substance abuse. He appreciated the role of youth and emphasized the need to channelise their energy towards constructive and nation building activities.
Principal Boys Higher Secondary School Mandi Anwar Khan also addressed the gathering and later presented the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Social Welfare Department for organising the programme and acknowledging the collective efforts of all participants.
Certificates of participation and appreciation were distributed among students, staff, and media personnel. Notable guests and contributors were honoured with mementos as a token of gratitude.
District Social Welfare Officer Khalil A. Banday extended special thanks to Principal Anwar Khan and his entire staff for their wholehearted support and for making the programme a success.
The programme concluded with a shared resolve to continue spreading awareness and strengthening efforts towards women empowerment and a drug-free society.
