Thiruvananthapuram: A banner attributed to the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) at University College in Thiruvananthapuram has drawn attention for its strongly worded message: “Bring your fire-spitting cannon.. We’ll be right here!!”
The slogan, displayed on the college campus, conveys a defiant message and appears to underline the organisation’s readiness to stand its ground in the face of opposition or confrontation. The wording has attracted attention on social media, where images of the banner have been widely discussed.
University College has historically been a prominent centre of student politics in Kerala, and political activities involving student organisations often generate public debate over campus culture, competing ideologies and the tone of political expression.
The banner’s message has particularly drawn notice because of its confrontational wording. While supporters may view such slogans as expressions of political determination, critics may question whether such language contributes to a more confrontational atmosphere on campuses.
The banner comes amid continuing political activity among student organisations in Kerala, where SFI remains one of the major student groups. The exact circumstances surrounding the display of the banner and the context in which the message was issued would require confirmation from the organisation or college authorities.
