Security forces have continued their operation in the Akhal Devsar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district for the eighth consecutive day, with one terrorist neutralised so far.

In a post on X, Chinar Corps stated, “OP AKHAL, Kulgam: Intermittent and intense firefight continued through the night. Alert troops responded with calibrated fire, tightened the noose, and maintained contact. One terrorist has been neutralised so far. Operation continues.”

Meanwhile, Baramulla Police have busted a terrorist hideout in the Gogaldara-Danwas forest, recovering a pistol, a magazine, nine rounds of ammunition, a grenade, and medical supplies. An FIR has been registered at PS Tangmarg, and investigations are underway.

In another development, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps foiled an infiltration attempt in the Poonch sector on July 30, killing two terror operatives. The operation, codenamed Shivashakti, led to the recovery of three weapons. The Army credited synchronised intelligence inputs from its units and the Jammu and Kashmir Police for the success.

A day earlier, on July 29, Union Home Minister Amit Shah told the Lok Sabha that top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Suleman—linked to the Pahalgam terror attack—was among three terrorists killed in Operation Mahadev near Dachigam National Park in Srinagar. The intense firefight in the Harwan area resulted in the elimination of all three terrorists involved. (Agencies)
