Samba, August 1: Samba Police has achieved a major success in its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking by arresting two alleged lady drug peddlers and recovering approximately 100 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) from their possession in Vijaypur.
Acting on reliable information, a police team from Police Station Vijaypur launched a swift operation and intercepted two women pedestrians on Tarapur Road who were moving towards Vijaypur under suspicious circumstances. During frisking, approximately 100 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession.
The arrested women have been identified as Noora Jan, wife of Mohd Yaqoob alias Yooqa, daughter of Masoom Ali, resident of Sarore, and Noor Jahan, wife of Mohd Yaqoob alias Yooqa, daughter of Miya Bashir, resident of Rakh Barotian. Both are presently residing at Rahya, Tehsil Vijaypur, District Samba.
The contraband was seized on the spot and FIR No. 133/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur. Further investigation is underway to establish the forward and backward linkages of the arrested accused and identify other persons involved in the drug network.
During investigation, police also found that Mohd Yaqoob alias Yooqa, the husband of both accused, is allegedly a notorious drug peddler and is involved in 17 cases under the NDPS Act and other criminal offences registered at various police stations in Jammu, Samba and Reasi districts.
Police said investigation is continuing to establish his linkages and expose the wider network involved in drug trafficking.
SSP Samba reiterated that District Police Samba remains committed to its sustained campaign against drugs and will continue to take stringent action against drug peddlers and traffickers. He said that no person involved in narcotics-related activities would be spared and that all such cases would be dealt with strictly under law.
