Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday clarified that there is currently no proposal under consideration to shift educational institutions to online mode.
Speaking to reporters about the possibility of virtual classes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for work-from-home and austerity measures amid fuel-related concerns, Itoo said no such decision had been taken so far.
“There is nothing like that at the moment. Let us see,” the minister remarked when asked whether the government was planning to move schools and colleges to online classes.
Her statement comes amid growing discussions following the Prime Minister’s call for fuel conservation and austerity measures in view of ongoing economic and supply concerns.
However, the minister made it clear that the education department has not discussed suspending physical classes or introducing online learning at this stage.
Jammu and Kashmir had previously adopted online classes extensively during the COVID-19 pandemic and weather-related disruptions, especially in the Kashmir Valley.
For now, all educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir continue to function normally. (Agencies)
