Anantnag, May 07: In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, Anantnag Police on Thursday attached immovable property worth around ₹2.5 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler under the NDPS Act.

The attached assets include a double-storey residential house, a commercial complex with 20 shops, and land measuring 1 Kanal and 6 Marlas.
The property is registered in the name of Javid Ahmad Rather, son of Mohd Abdullah Rather, a resident of Waghama, who is booked in FIR No. 237/2021 under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Bijbehara.
Officials said the attachment was carried out after completing all required legal procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹2.5 crore.
Police reiterated their commitment to eliminating the drug menace and said strict action will continue against those involved in narcotics trade. They added that attaching illegally acquired assets serves as a strong deterrent against drug-related crimes.
