In a decisive step to maintain public order and ensure citizens’ safety, Poonch Police has detained Mohd Nasar alias Jiggar, son of Mohd Rafiq, a resident of Sagra Balnoi, Tehsil Mendhar, under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA), 1978. He has been lodged at District Jail Dhangri, Rajouri, following the detention order issued by the District Magistrate Poonch, executed by Police Station Mendhar.
Police described Nasar as a notorious criminal with a long record of violent offences. Despite repeated arrests and legal actions, he allegedly continued unlawful activities, posing a serious threat to public peace and security.
As routine measures failed to curb his conduct, authorities deemed his preventive detention under the PSA necessary to safeguard public order.
District Police Poonch reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the rule of law, adopting a zero-tolerance policy against crime and ensuring peace and security in the region. (Agencies)
