New Delhi, September 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on his birth anniversary, remembering his long years in public life and dedicated service to the nation.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Tributes to our former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji on his birth anniversary. He spent many years in public life and served the nation with dedication.”
Dr. Manmohan Singh was born on September 26, 1932. He served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, after earlier holding several key positions in public service, including Union Finance Minister and Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
As Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, Singh played a central role in India’s economic reform programme of 1991. He passed away in New Delhi on December 26, 2024, at the age of 92.
PM Modi’s tribute comes as political leaders across the country remember the former prime minister on his birth anniversary and reflect on his long public career and contributions to India.
