One arrested, two on the run as Doda Police seize 266 bottles of illicit liquor in Thathri

Jammu/Doda, April 27: Continuing its crackdown on illegal activities, Doda Police on Monday seized a large quantity of illicit liquor in the Thathri area and arrested one person, while two others managed to flee.

Acting on specific information, a team from Police Station Thathri conducted a raid at Upper Thathri, where three individuals were reportedly storing illegal liquor in a rented room.

During the search operation, police recovered a total of 266 bottles of illicit liquor, including 150 bottles of 180 ml desi whisky, 70 bottles of 250 ml, 10 bottles of 750 ml, and 36 bottles of Kingfisher beer (500 ml).

The arrested accused has been identified as Manjeet Kumar, son of Kamar Lal, a resident of Badli Bhatyas, Gandoh. The two absconding accused have been identified as Kewal Krishan, son of Puran Chand, resident of Bajja Chirala, and Vimal Kumar, son of Kuldeep Singh, resident of Nandna, Tehsil Phagsoo.

Police have registered a case under FIR No. 31/2026 under Section 48(f) at Police Station Thathri.

Officials said further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended distribution network of the seized consignment. Efforts are also on to apprehend the absconding accused.

Doda Police has reiterated its appeal to the public to share information about illegal activities, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential.
