Authorities to Convene Council Meeting on April 7
No-Confidence Motion Against DDC Chairperson Budgam Nazir Ahmad Khan to Be Held on April 7
The District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson of Budgam, Nazir Ahmad Khan, will face a no-confidence motion on April 7, marking the first such challenge for a head of the third-tier Panchayati Raj system in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Deputy Commissioner of Budgam has scheduled a meeting of the council on April 7 to consider the no-confidence motion against Khan. The meeting is set to take place at 11:30 am at the council’s office.
This move follows a directive from the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, which ordered the authorities to address the no-confidence motion against the DDC chairperson.
In the 2024 Assembly elections, several DDC members, including Nazir Ahmad Khan, contested the polls. However, most of them were unsuccessful, with some, including the DDC Chairperson of Baramulla, losing their deposits. Notably, three DDC members—Irfan Hafiz Lone, Mehraj Malik, and Waheed-ur-Rehman Para—emerged victorious in the elections.
