MVD Kishtwar Intensifies Enforcement Drive on Dool Road, Bindraban; 36 Vehicles Challaned

Jammu/Kishtwar May 16, 2026: Acting tough against traffic violations and unsafe passenger transport practices, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Kishtwar on Saturday conducted a major enforcement drive on Dool Road and at Bindraban to ensure passenger safety and strict adherence to traffic regulations.

The drive was conducted under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma and on the directions of Transport Commissioner J&K Vishesh Paul Mahajan.

Led by ARTO Kishtwar Tasleem Wani, the enforcement team e-challaned 36 vehicles for different traffic violations. During the drive, seven vehicles were seized, while suspension proceedings were initiated against two Driving Licenses, two Route Permits and one Registration Certificate (RC).

Officials said that a total fine of ₹70,000 was imposed during the operation. The violations included overloading, overcharging, dangerous driving, fitness violations, Speed Limiting Device (SLD) violations, helmet violations and other breaches of Motor Vehicle norms.

Speaking on the occasion, ARTO Kishtwar said that passenger safety remains the department’s top priority and frequent enforcement drives are being conducted across the district to ensure compliance with traffic laws and safety standards.

He also appealed to drivers and vehicle owners to follow traffic rules strictly and avoid violations that endanger human lives.
