Budgam | July 9: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir and Chairman of the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), Dr. Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq, paid rich tributes to the late Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei during a memorial gathering organised by Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, headed by Aga Syed Hasan Al-Moosavi Al-Safavi, in Budgam.
Describing Ayatollah Khamenei as a prominent religious and political figure, Mirwaiz said his life represented faith, moral courage, steadfastness and a commitment towards the unity and dignity of the Muslim Ummah.
Mirwaiz said the message of Ayatollah Khamenei went beyond personal worship and emphasised the responsibility of standing for justice, defending human dignity, supporting the oppressed and opposing injustice with wisdom and courage.
He said the biggest tribute to Ayatollah Khamenei would be to strengthen Muslim unity. Highlighting the need for harmony among different communities, Mirwaiz said that despite differences in schools of thought, Shia and Sunni Muslims remain part of one Ummah united by the Qur’an, the Prophet (PBUH) and the Qibla.
Speaking about Ayatollah Khamenei’s views on nuclear weapons, Mirwaiz said that he opposed their acquisition and use, considering them against Islamic principles and humanity. He said true strength lies not in destructive power but in justice, restraint and responsibility.
Mirwaiz also recalled Ayatollah Khamenei’s support for the Palestinian people and their struggle for dignity, justice and freedom. He said the ongoing suffering in Palestine remains a test of the moral responsibility of the international community and the Muslim Ummah.
Referring to communities facing prolonged uncertainty and injustice, Mirwaiz said that unity, patience, moral clarity and collective resolve are essential for achieving justice. He emphasised that dignity cannot be achieved through division and called for a disciplined and united approach guided by wisdom.
Concluding his remarks, Mirwaiz prayed for the departed leader and said that Ayatollah Khamenei’s legacy should inspire Muslims to reject sectarianism, strengthen brotherhood, support the oppressed and work towards justice, peace and unity.(AGENCIES)
