The Meteorological Department, in its latest advisory, has issued an alert urging the general public to remain cautious, as parts of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to experience rain, thundershowers, and gusty winds over the next 3–4 hours.
The advisory also warned of the possibility of landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas of the region. People have been advised to suspend Shikara and boat rides in all water bodies during periods of intense rainfall and strong winds.
The Meteorological Department has forecast generally cloudy skies with spells of rain and thundershowers at many places across North and South Kashmir, as well as parts of Central Kashmir, Poonch, Rajouri, Banihal, Ramban, and Reasi over the next 3–4 hours.
According to the advisory, moderate to intense rainfall accompanied by gusty winds (30–40 km/h) is expected in some areas, including Kupwara, Handwara, Tangdhar, the Ganderbal–Sonamarg axis, Kukernag, Qazigund and surrounding regions, as well as the Qazigund–Banihal–Ramban corridor, parts of Poonch and Rajouri, Katra, and Patnitop, during the next 1–2 hours.
