Kishtwar 20 March: Markazi Majlis-e-Shura, District Kishtwar expresses deep concern and regret over the poor functioning of the Power Development Department (PDD) and the continued power outages despite the installation of electricity meters. It is highly condemnable that electricity has remained shut for the past two days during the sacred occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.The Majlis wants to remind the district administration of Kishtwar that this is the very region from where electricity is supplied to large parts of India, yet ironically, the same town has been left in darkness for the past several days. Over the last week, unscheduled and frequent power cuts have increased drastically, raising serious questions about the efficiency and accountability of the concerned authorities. The general public, despite paying heavy electricity bills, is forced to live in darkness and hardship. Depriving people of such a basic necessity during an important religious festival like Eid-ul-Fitr is both unfortunate and unacceptable. It has also been observed that the Power Development Department often resorts to unannounced power cuts on one pretext or another, causing immense inconvenience to the residents.
Markazi Majlis-e-Shura strongly appeals to the administration and the concerned department to:
Ensure immediate and uninterrupted restoration of electricity supply.
Address faults in grid stations and transmission lines on an emergency basis.Complete all necessary.maintenance work well in advance, especially before sacred occasions.
Issue a proper and transparent power cut schedule to keep the public informed.
In these cold days, patients, children, and the elderly are suffering severely due to the lack of electricity. Therefore, the administration must take urgent steps to restore power supply so that the people of Kishtwar can observe Eid-ul-Fitr with ease, dignity, and peace.
