Jammu, October 13: In a significant relief for government employees, the Jammu and Kashmir Administration has initiated the implementation of Government Order No. 305-F of 2026, allowing eligible employees covered under the National Pension System (NPS) to switch to the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

The benefit applies to employees appointed against vacancies advertised before December 24, 2009, but who joined government service on or after January 1, 2010, due to recruitment delays.

The Directorate of School Education Jammu has directed all Chief Education Officers across the Jammu division to process eligible cases within 14 days.

Under the Finance Department’s September 28 order, eligible employees must exercise their one-time option by December 28, 2026. Once submitted, the decision will be final and irrevocable.

Applicants must provide recruitment advertisements, appointment orders, PRAN details and verified service records. Eligible NPS contributions will be adjusted according to the prescribed GPF and pension rules.

The move is expected to benefit teaching and non-teaching employees who meet the government’s eligibility requirements.
