Rain, Snow and Thunderstorms Forecast in J&K; Met Issues Weather Advisory for April 8–20
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a comprehensive weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, covering the period from April 8 to April 20, 2025. The forecast indicates a mix of cloudy skies, dry spells, and intermittent rain and snow, especially over higher reaches.
As per the forecast, April 8 is expected to witness generally cloudy conditions by afternoon, with chances of light rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Snowfall is also likely over the higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir towards the evening and night.
On April 9 and 10, the region is expected to remain generally cloudy with intermittent spells of light rain and snow across many areas. Thunderstorms and gusty winds, with speeds ranging from 30–40 km/h, are also likely at a few locations.
April 11 may begin with cloudy skies and scattered light rain and snow during the morning hours, followed by a gradual improvement in weather conditions.
From April 12 to 17, the weather is expected to remain generally dry across the Union Territory. However, a fresh spell of rain and snow is likely to return between April 18 and 20.
In light of the forecast, the MeT department has advised travelers, tourists, and transporters to stay updated with local administration and traffic advisories. Farmers have also been urged to suspend agricultural operations on April 9 and 10 due to the likelihood of adverse weather conditions.
