Manoj Sinha on Tuesday inaugurated the Shri Narsingh Dev Sanskrit Gurukul at the historic Shri Narsingh Dev Temple in Ghagwal and emphasized the need to integrate ancient Vedic wisdom with modern education for building a culturally conscious and progressive society.

During the event, the Lieutenant Governor also dedicated the Nakshatra Park and Yoga Dhyan Kendra to the public and laid the foundation stone for the Shri Narsingh Dev Public Library and an Open Air Amphitheatre.

Addressing scholars, students and dignitaries at the ceremony, LG Sinha described the establishment of the Gurukul as a significant step towards reconnecting with India’s civilizational roots and strengthening the ancient Indian knowledge tradition.

“It is a meaningful step towards cultural renaissance and the preservation of our rich heritage,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He highlighted that Ghagwal has historically remained an important centre of learning where Vedic teachings and the Guru-Shishya tradition flourished, guiding generations in values, critical thinking and pursuit of truth.

The Lieutenant Governor said that while India is making rapid strides in science, innovation and technology, the country’s true strength lies in its cultural consciousness, with Sanskrit continuing to provide a balanced perspective rooted in ethics and duty.

He noted that Sanskrit has served humanity for centuries by preserving invaluable knowledge systems and ethical teachings. Recalling the contributions of renowned ancient scholars including Aryabhata, Charaka, Sushruta and Brahmagupta, LG Sinha said India’s ancient thinkers significantly shaped global traditions in mathematics, medicine and philosophy.

He stressed the importance of making ancient knowledge accessible in simple and modern language so that it remains relevant and beneficial for contemporary society.

The Lieutenant Governor urged the Gurukul management to maintain high standards of education by blending traditional values with modern academic approaches. He said the institution should focus not only on awarding degrees but also on nurturing ethical, courageous and socially responsible individuals.

“I believe Shri Narsingh Dev Sanskrit Gurukul will emerge as a centre of excellence by integrating traditional wisdom with modern education,” he added.

LG Sinha also appreciated the efforts of Chudamani Sanskrit Sansthan, Shri Narsingh Dev Temple Management Committee and the district administration Samba for their commitment towards establishing the Gurukul.

Among those present on the occasion were Surjit Singh Slathia, Shri Shakti Pathak, Director ACB and President of Chudamani Sanskrit Sansthan, senior civil and police officials, Vedic scholars and prominent citizens.
