Swift Firefighting Response Prevents Blaze from Spreading in Congested Downtown Locality

Srinagar, Feb 12: A late-night fire in the Sariabal area of downtown Srinagar on Wednesday caused significant damage to a textile shop, while swift action by the Fire and Emergency Services prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.

Officials said the fire broke out at a textile outlet operating under the name Bombay Textiles, owned by Aijaz Ahmad Khan. The shop suffered extensive damage in the incident.

An adjacent vacant shop was also partially damaged due to the intensity of the flames. However, the prompt and coordinated response of fire personnel ensured that other shops and the main building structure were safeguarded, averting a major incident in the congested locality.

The firefighting operation was led by the Divisional Fire Officer, City and Headquarters, under the supervision of Deputy Director, Fire and Emergency Services, Dr Mir Aqib Hussain, along with Mobilizing Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah.

Authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported. The exact cause of the fire is being investigated. (Agencies)
