Kishtwar Police Intensifies Anti-Drug Crackdown; Vehicle Frozen Under NDPS Act, Poppy Cultivation Case Registered

Kishtwar, June 2: Continuing its sustained campaign against narcotics trafficking and the illegal assets generated through the drug trade, Kishtwar Police has frozen a vehicle allegedly purchased from proceeds of narcotic drug trafficking and simultaneously registered a fresh case involving illegal poppy cultivation in Drabshalla.

According to police, during the investigation of FIR No. 90/2026 registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kishtwar, it came to light that a minibus bearing registration number JK06C-5714, owned by Mudasir Hussain son of Mehraj-ud-Din, a resident of Om Mehta Road, Kishtwar, was allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotic drug trafficking.

Following the legal procedure laid down under Chapter V-A of the NDPS Act, the vehicle has been frozen and seized under Section 68F(1) of the NDPS Act, 1985, pending further proceedings before the Competent Authority. Police have also affixed an attachment notice on the vehicle, prohibiting its sale, transfer, lease, or any other transaction without lawful authorization.

Meanwhile, in another action on Tuesday, Police Post Drabshalla received reliable information that a person identified as Sameer Ahmed, son of late Ajaz Ahmed, resident of Khori Saroor, Drabshalla, had allegedly cultivated poppy plants illegally on his land.

Acting swiftly, police registered FIR No. 131/2026 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act and initiated an investigation. The probe has been entrusted to PSI Sourabh Sharma of Police Post Drabshalla.

Kishtwar Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace by targeting both drug traffickers and the assets generated through narcotics-related crimes. The public has been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share information regarding drug trafficking and other related illegal activities.
