The State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Tuesday carried out raids at multiple locations in central Kashmir as part of its ongoing probe into the murder of Kashmiri Pandit woman Sarla Bhat, which occurred 35 years ago, officials said.
The raids targeted residences of several individuals formerly associated with the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), linked to the investigation of Bhat’s killing.
Sarla Bhat went missing from her hostel at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Soura in April 1990. Her body was later discovered in downtown Srinagar.
Among those whose homes were searched by the SIA was former JKLF leader Peer Noorul Haq Shah, also known as Air Marshal. The agency recently took over the investigation of this long-pending case. (Agencies)
