During the meeting, the delegation highlighted long-pending rail connectivity proposals aimed at improving access to remote and underserved regions of the Union Territory.

The projects discussed included:
• Ramban–Anantnag rail line via Doda and Kishtwar
• Jammu–Kashmir rail link via Rajouri and Poonch
• Sopore–Kupwara rail connectivity via Handwara
• Baramulla–Kupwara rail line via Handwara

The leaders informed the Minister that these projects represent genuine public demand and are vital for strengthening connectivity in hilly and far-flung districts.

They further stated that improved rail connectivity would help reduce travel time, provide a safer and more reliable mode of transport, and facilitate the movement of people and goods across regions. The projects are also expected to support tourism, horticulture, and local trade in areas that currently face connectivity challenges due to difficult terrain and weather conditions.

The delegation also underlined the importance of enhancing connectivity in border districts such as Rajouri, Poonch and Kupwara, stating that better transport infrastructure would contribute to overall development and accessibility.

The Union Minister gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that the proposals would be examined and considered positively, acknowledging them as important public issues.
