Following the Pahalgam terror attack, several Kashmiri students across India have reported facing harassment, physical assaults, and threats of eviction. Fearing for their safety, many have fled from their host locations.

SRINAGAR: In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 25 tourists and one local resident, the J&K Students Association has raised serious concerns over increasing incidents of harassment, abuse, and physical assaults against Kashmiri students across the country.

Nasir Khuehami, the national convenor of the association, said they have received multiple distress calls from students, especially from Dehradun, following a threatening video issued by the Hindu Raksha Dal. The video reportedly warned Kashmiri Muslim students to leave Dehradun by 10 am, sparking fear and panic.

Khuehami described the situation as extremely worrying, stating that Kashmiri students studying outside the region now feel unsafe and targeted. In response, the association has issued helpline numbers to provide assistance to affected students.

He further reported a violent incident at Universal Group of Institutions in Derabassi, Chandigarh, where Kashmiri students were allegedly attacked inside their hostel rooms during the night. According to accounts, individuals forcibly entered the hostel, assaulted the students with sharp weapons, tore their clothes, and left one student seriously injured.

This incident marks the seventh reported case of targeted violence against Kashmiri students since the Baisaran, Pahalgam terror attack, Khuehami noted.

He also alleged that a Kashmiri student at Amity University in Noida was brutally assaulted.

In a further escalation, Hindu Raksha Dal and other groups have allegedly issued written threats to several colleges in Dehradun, demanding the expulsion of Kashmiri Muslim students by a specific deadline.
