Two people were killed and three others injured after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a parapet near Chingus in Rajouri district during the pre-dawn hours on Wednesday.
Officials told GNS that a Swift car (JK12D 7568), travelling from Jammu to Rajouri, rammed into a roadside parapet around 4:30 am. The impact of the collision proved fatal for two passengers, while three others sustained injuries.
The injured were shifted to GMC Rajouri for treatment.
The deceased were identified as Naik Singh (53), son of Puran Singh, of Waripattan, and Mohd Yaqoob (45), son of Mohd Fazal, of Saila Surankote.
The injured include Mohd Farooq, son of Mohd Fazal of Saila Surankote; driver Mohd Sageer, son of Mohd Haneef of Digwar Poonch; and Mohd Mushtaq, son of Fazal Hussain of Kakora Manjakote.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident. (Agencies)
