The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched a city-wide “Clean Jammu, Green Jammu” campaign aimed at transforming Jammu into a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable urban space.
Commissioner JMC Dr. Devansh Yadav chaired a review meeting with senior officials to discuss strengthening sanitation systems, enhancing green cover, and ensuring active public participation in environmental initiatives.
As part of the campaign, restoration and cleaning work is underway at over 20 ponds and water bodies across the city. Local resident committees will be formed to adopt and maintain these water bodies, while citizens are also encouraged to participate through an online registration system.
The JMC has planned large-scale plantation of over 40,000 trees and saplings across Jammu. A QR-based “adopt a tree” initiative has also been introduced to promote accountability and citizen ownership of greenery.
Additionally, the Housing and Urban Development Department has introduced reforms such as online self-certification for building maps and mandatory rainwater harvesting systems in new constructions to improve groundwater recharge.
Dr. Yadav urged citizens, youth groups, and organizations to actively participate in making Jammu a clean and green city.
