2 Min Read

The Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) fraternity deeply respects and acknowledges the invaluable sacrifices and dedication of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in maintaining peace, law, and order across the Union Territory. The police force has consistently stood as a pillar of courage and commitment in the face of challenges, and their contributions are held in the highest regard.

However, the unfortunate incident on 10-11-2025, in which Sunil Jasrotia, SDPO, allegedly assaulted Azhar Khan, JKAS, currently serving as BDO Nagrota, while he was performing his assigned election duty, is deeply disturbing and unbecoming of the dignity expected of a uniformed officer. Such conduct, carried out in full public view, not only undermines the sanctity of official duty but also sets a dangerous precedent that cannot be ignored.

This act also violates the fundamental rights under Article 21 of the Constitution, which guarantees not only the right to life but also the right to live with dignity, whether for a common citizen or a government officer.

The JKAS community unequivocally condemns this act and demands strict legal and disciplinary action against the officer responsible. Upholding the rule of law and mutual institutional respect is vital for maintaining administrative integrity and public trust.

We place full faith in the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, the Chief Secretary, the Home Secretary, and the Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, to ensure that justice is delivered promptly, impartially, and in accordance with the law based on the evidence available.

The JKAS fraternity remains united in its commitment to perform its duties with dedication while expecting equal dignity, fairness, and protection under the law for all officers serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We reiterate our profound respect for the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who continue to serve selflessly and sacrifice for the welfare of the people and for the nation.
