Cricket Fraternity Rejects Allegations Against Mithun Manhas, Terms DOB Report Misleading
Jammu, August 20: A claim circulating on some Facebook pages regarding the date of birth of BCCI President Mithun Manhas has drawn a strong rebuttal from members of the Jammu & Kashmir cricket fraternity, who have termed the claim false and misleading and expressed concern over what they described as an attempt to cast aspersions on the reputation of one of the region’s most accomplished cricketers and administrators.
Those supporting Manhas said that such claims should not overshadow his substantial contribution to cricket and the remarkable journey that has taken him from the cricket field in Jammu & Kashmir to the highest levels of Indian cricket administration.
Mithun Manhas has remained closely associated with the development of cricket in Jammu & Kashmir and his journey has coincided with several landmark moments for the region, including winning the Ranji Trophy and hosting the prestigious Irani Cup.
His elevation to the position of BCCI President has been widely viewed as a matter of pride for Jammu & Kashmir and a recognition of the region’s growing contribution to Indian cricket.
A senior cricketer, reacting to the controversy, said certain elements appeared unable to appreciate the progress made by Manhas and J&K cricket.
“Some people cannot digest the rise of Mithun Manhas and J&K cricket. Instead of contributing to the game, they are busy trying to tarnish the image of others. Their own record speaks for itself,” the cricketer said.
The senior player said the focus should instead be on strengthening cricket at the grassroots level and supporting players and administrators who have contributed to the sport.

Manhas’ journey has been particularly significant for young cricketers in Jammu & Kashmir, with his rise demonstrating the possibilities available to talent from the region at the national level.
Members of the cricket fraternity have urged people not to give credence to what they described as misleading social media claims and said that public discussion should remain focused on facts and Manhas’ contribution to the game.
For Jammu & Kashmir, Manhas’ rise to the top of Indian cricket administration remains a significant sporting achievement and a source of pride for the region.
