Srinagar, Mar 27 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday criticised the Jammu and Kashmir government, terming its response to Israel’s attack on Iran as “belated.” She said it took Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the only Muslim chief minister in the country, nearly a month to issue a clear condemnation.

In a post on X, as reported by Kashmir News agency the former chief minister referred to the Punjab Assembly’s resolution on the issue, drawing a comparison with the response from the Union Territory administration.

“It is disheartening that it took our Chief Minister — the only Muslim CM of India’s only Muslim-majority region — an entire month to unequivocally condemn Israel’s attack on Iran,” Mufti said.

She noted that the Punjab Assembly acted swiftly, becoming the first legislature to pass a resolution condemning the attack and expressing solidarity with Iran.

“However, the J&K government showed no such urgency or genuine concern, limiting its response to rhetoric and speeches instead of taking a clear and principled stand,” she added. (Agency)
