Doda, October 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against a revenue official posted at Gandoh in Doda district after preliminary verification allegedly revealed assets beyond his known lawful sources of income.

According to an official ACB statement, FIR No. 03/2026 has been registered at Police Station ACB Doda under Section 13(1)(b), read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, against Mohd. Iqbal, son of Late Ghulam Qadir, a resident of Goilbar Alni, Gangota, who is serving as a Girdawar at Tehsil Headquarters Gandoh.

The case follows verification conducted by the ACB’s Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban (DKR) unit into allegations that the official had accumulated movable and immovable assets in his own name and in the names of family members that were allegedly disproportionate to his known lawful income.

During the verification, investigators reportedly identified four commercial buildings, two residential buildings and two plots in Doda and Jammu districts. A vehicle, costly household articles and bank accounts have also come under scrutiny.

The bureau stated that the preliminary findings provided prima facie grounds for registering the case under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Searches Conducted in Doda and Jammu

As part of the investigation, the ACB obtained a search warrant from the competent court and conducted searches at residential and commercial premises, along with an office associated with the accused official in Doda and Jammu districts.

The searches were carried out in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses, according to the official statement.

Financial Records Under Scanner

The ACB has initiated further investigation to establish the ownership, source and mode of acquisition of the properties and other assets identified during verification. Investigators will examine financial records, bank transactions and relevant documents to determine whether the assets can be accounted for through lawful sources of income.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as the bureau examines the available evidence.

The allegations against the official have yet to be established through investigation and judicial proceedings. Registration of an FIR does not establish guilt, and the accused remains entitled to due process of law.
