Jammu Tourism Marks International Day of Yoga 2026 with Grand Celebration at Jammu Tawi Golf Course

Jammu, June 21: Reinforcing its commitment to promoting wellness, healthy living, and community engagement, the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 at the scenic Jammu Tawi Golf Course, Sidhra. The event was organized in collaboration with MOBE, One Ride One Nation, and Jammu Tawi Golf Course.

The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from yoga practitioners, fitness enthusiasts, students, members of civil society, and the general public, who gathered in large numbers during the early morning hours to take part in a mass yoga session. A bike rally organized by riders of the One Ride One Nation Club was also flagged off on the sidelines of the event, adding to the spirit of fitness and awareness.

Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Aijaz Qaiser, JKAS, highlighted the significance of the International Day of Yoga as a global movement fostering harmony between the mind, body, and nature. He described yoga as one of India’s most valuable contributions to the world and emphasized its role in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, emotional balance, and inner peace.

He noted that in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, yoga serves as an effective tool for stress management, improved concentration, and overall wellness. Encouraging citizens, particularly the younger generation, to adopt yoga as a daily practice, he stressed the importance of embracing a healthy and disciplined way of life.

The event was organized under the directions of Additional Chief Secretary Tourism, Ashish Chander Verma, IAS, and supervised by Director Tourism Jammu, Vikas Gupta, JKAS. Against the serene backdrop of the lush green golf course, participants performed a series of yoga asanas and breathing exercises under expert guidance, reaffirming the transformative power of yoga in everyday life.

The programme was attended by Deputy Director Tourism (Publicity), Savita Chauhan, JKAS; Assistant Director Tourism Jammu, Vishal Sadhotra; Accounts Officer Tourism Jammu, Annie Jamwal; along with officers and officials of the Tourism Department.

Conveying the message of “Fit Jammu, Healthy Jammu,” the event successfully inspired participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routines and embrace a healthier lifestyle.

The proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks by Savita Chauhan, JKAS, who expressed gratitude to all participants, partner organizations, volunteers, and stakeholders for their valuable contribution towards making the event a grand success.
