Police in Jammu will soon introduce a dedicated web portal to streamline tenant verification and minimize the need for residents to visit police stations, officials said on Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, explained that the current manual system requires both tenants and landlords to appear physically at the police station, often causing inconvenience. The new portal aims to make the verification process more efficient, user-friendly, and accessible online.
Jammu Police is developing a user-friendly online portal to eliminate the need for tenants and landlords to visit police stations for verification, SSP Joginder Singh said. “We are working to remove this physical contact. A user-friendly tenant verification portal is being developed and will be launched soon,” he added.
Once active, verification forms can be submitted online, and the police will carry out the process. Singh also emphasized that shopkeepers and employers are required to verify their employees under orders from the Deputy Commissioner.
He clarified that the verification drive is a routine, year-round exercise, not prompted by any recent incident.
On misinformation circulating on social media, Singh said the police have urged the government to introduce regulations to curb fake or misleading content. “Work is underway, and we hope that regulations will be in place soon,” he added. (Agencies)
