Jammu, February 20, 2026: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Jammu Police South Zone has intensified its sustained crackdown on narcotics by registering two separate FIRs under the NDPS Act within the last 24 hours at Police Station Gangyal. Approximately 30 grams of heroin, commonly known as “chitta,” along with a weighing machine, were seized, and four alleged drug peddlers, including one woman, were arrested.
The operations were conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Jammu, with guidance from SP South and close supervision of SDPO South. The swift action by SHO Police Station Gangyal and his team reflects heightened vigilance and operational efficiency in tackling the drug menace in the area.
The cases registered in this connection are FIR No. 23/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and FIR No. 24/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act.
In FIR No. 23/2026, the accused have been identified as Mohd. Saber, son of Shah Wali, resident of Gujjar Basti, Sunjwan, Jammu, and Hanifa Begum, wife of Farid, resident of Rakh Barothian, Samba. Approximately 14 grams of heroin-like substance were recovered from their possession.
In FIR No. 24/2026, the arrested accused include Satpaul Singh, son of Paramjeet Singh, resident of Sainik Colony, Jammu, and Shubham Choudhary, son of Kewal Krishan, resident of Chumbian Jatta, Bishnah, Jammu. Around 15 to 18 grams of heroin-like substance were recovered from them.
In total, nearly 30 grams of heroin were seized within a span of 24 hours by Police Station Gangyal.
Officials stated that over the past two months alone, six separate FIRs under the NDPS Act have been registered at PS Gangyal, underscoring the firm resolve of the police to dismantle the drug supply chain and break the nexus of peddlers operating in the region. The consistent action highlights a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and organized drug networks.
Jammu Police South Zone reiterated its commitment to making Jammu drug-free in line with the directions of SSP Jammu. Continuous surveillance, intensified patrolling, actionable intelligence gathering, and strict enforcement measures are being implemented to curb the drug menace at its roots.
The police have appealed to the public to cooperate and share credible information regarding narcotics smuggling or drug peddling, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
