Jammu Police South Zone Recovers Stolen Property Worth ₹90 Lakh, Solves Multiple Theft Cases in 57 Days

Jammu February 26, 2026: Jammu Police South Zone has achieved a major breakthrough by successfully solving multiple theft cases and recovering stolen and missing property worth approximately ₹90 lakh during the last 57 days of the year 2026.

According to police, Jammu Police South Zone carried out focused and intelligence-led operations to trace missing property and bring offenders to justice. Under Operation RECONNECT, a total of 196 missing mobile phones valued at around ₹68 lakh were recovered on the basis of missing reports lodged by citizens across Jammu. Of these, 36 mobile phones were handed over earlier, while 160 mobile phones were returned to their rightful owners after completion of all legal formalities. The recovery was achieved by a small ESU team operating from the office of SP South Jammu, led by SgCt Rishi Abrol, through sustained technical analysis, tracking and effective inter-state coordination.

Under Operation AVTAR, Police Station Gandhi Nagar solved a motorcycle theft case registered vide FIR No. 34/2026 under Section 303(2) BNS on the complaint of SgCt Viney Kumar regarding the theft of his Hero Splendor motorcycle. A police team led by Inspector Jaipal Sharma, assisted by PSI Nadeem Akram and ASI Pintoo Kumar, conducted technical analysis and examined CCTV footage from JMC Smart City, leading to the arrest of two accused persons, identified as Mansa Chowdhary and Abdul Rehman. During investigation, police recovered 15 additional stolen two-wheelers, mainly Hero Splendor motorcycles, along with one Pulsar RS200 and one Scooty Pleasure, collectively valued at around ₹12 lakh.

In another case under Operation MEGHDOOT, Police Station Gandhi Nagar solved a major salon theft case with the arrest of one accused person and recovery of stolen salon equipment worth approximately ₹10 lakh.

Jammu Police South Zone reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the life and property of citizens and stated that preventive policing, technical surveillance and intelligence-based operations will continue to be strengthened to effectively curb theft-related crimes and enhance public confidence in policing.
