New Delhi, Jun 20: India will host the BRICS National Security Advisers’ (NSA) Meeting on June 22 and 23, with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval chairing the high-level discussions, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Saturday.

The meeting will bring together National Security Advisers and Heads of Delegation from BRICS member countries to deliberate on the theme, “Non-traditional Security Challenges Confronting the World Today.”

According to the MEA, the delegates will discuss the rapidly evolving global security landscape, including emerging threats driven by new technologies and the growing need for international cooperation to address them.

The meeting will also review the outcomes of the recently held BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), with a focus on strengthening collaboration among member nations.

India is holding the BRICS Chairship for the fourth time in 2026, after previously leading the grouping in 2012, 2016, and 2021. This year’s chairship is guided by the theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a people-centric and humanity-first approach outlined at the 2025 Rio Summit.

BRICS currently comprises 11 member nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The grouping serves as a key platform for cooperation on global political, economic, and security issues.

Over the years, the BRICS agenda has expanded beyond economic cooperation to include counter-terrorism, climate change, food and energy security, trade, international financial reforms, agriculture, labour, telecommunications, and cultural exchanges, reinforcing its role in addressing major global challenges.
