Japan, October 3, 2026: India clinched the men’s T20 cricket gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in a thrilling final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
Led by captain Shreyas Iyer, India posted 211 runs after opting to bat first. Pakistan mounted a strong chase, with Hasan Nawaz scoring a quick half-century, but India’s bowlers regained control in the closing overs.
Jasprit Bumrah delivered a crucial penultimate over that restricted Pakistan’s scoring and left them needing 33 runs from the final over. Pakistan ultimately fell short, handing India another Asian Games cricket gold.
The victory also means India successfully defended its men’s cricket gold medal, following its triumph at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
