Finance Minister to present Economic Survey 2025-26 in Lok Sabha as House discusses Bills, AERA review, and urgent public matters

New Delhi, January 29: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Economic Survey 2025-26 in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Prepared by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs under the supervision of the Chief Economic Adviser, the Economic Survey offers an overview of the economy, key indicators for 2025-26 (April-March), and an outlook for the next fiscal year.

Additionally, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol will table documents related to the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA), along with a statement reviewing its functioning for 2024-25.

As per the agenda, the House will first conduct Question Hour, followed by the laying of papers by Union Council of Ministers. Sitharaman will present documents for the Ministry of Finance, while Mohol will do so for the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

A major item on the agenda includes the formal laying of eight Bills passed by both Houses during the Sixth Session of the 18th Lok Sabha, which have received the President’s assent. The Secretary General of the Lok Sabha will table these Bills.

The House will also witness the presentation of the 13th Report of the Business Advisory Committee by Kiren Rijiju and Kodikunnil Suresh. Matters under Rule 377, allowing MPs to raise urgent public issues, will also be taken up.

The Budget Session began a day earlier and will run for 30 sittings over 65 days, concluding on April 2, with a recess from February 13 to March 9 for the Standing Committees’ scrutiny of Demands for Grants. (Agencies)
