Kishtwar/Doda, 28th May 2026: In a continued crackdown against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, Doda Police apprehended an alleged drug peddler near Ganpat Bridge Doda and recovered approximately 6.92 grams of heroin (chitta)-like substance from his possession.
According to the Police Media Cell Doda, acting on reliable prior information regarding movement of a suspected narcotic smuggler travelling from Jammu towards Bhaderwah, a police naka was established near Ganpat Bridge under the supervision of the SHO Police Station Doda.
During the checking operation, one person reportedly attempted to flee after noticing the police party but was swiftly apprehended by alert personnel on duty.
The accused has been identified as Mohd. Asif Bhatt, son of Mohd. Alyas Bhatt, resident of Sarna Bhaderwah. During his personal search, police recovered approximately 6.92 grams of heroin (chitta)-like narcotic substance from his possession.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the recovered contraband was allegedly meant for illegal sale and distribution.
In this connection, FIR No. 139/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda and further investigation is underway.
Doda Police reiterated its commitment towards making society drug-free and urged the public to support the anti-drug campaign by sharing information related to narcotics trafficking and substance abuse in their respective areas.
